Research

Research is a vital part of our work, which is a particularly western process. For the monks, it is sufficient to have observed, to have experimented upon themselves and to trust in the knowledge of the herbs, knowledge that has been handed down through generations.

We too, have observed many individuals change their lives around and become drug free successful and valuable members of society. Yet the West does not place sufficient value on what is seen as anecdotal evidence. It is for this reason that we are committed to ongoing evaluation and research to ensure the treatment is given due credibility.

We have been blessed to collaborate with the monastery who invited and hosted two professional independent observers to visit and study the process. Their findings are available here along with other articles that might be of interest.

Dr Vanessa Crawford – Consultant Psychiatrist

Anna M Cannon – Medical Herbalist

We are in the process of a qualitative research study to analyse the multiple elements that constitute this treatment programme and spotlight those elements that differentiate this from western methods. A pilot study following 65 patients has been completed and a discussion paper currently being produced for publication and feedback before the larger main study is completed.
